Great Readers workshop

The Growing Great Readers Workshop is a practical, hands-on literacy programme designed to equip Early Childhood Development (ECD) teachers with the skills and confidence to build strong reading foundations in young children.

Facilitated by literacy specialist Debbie de Jong, the workshop focuses on the power of storytelling as one of the most effective ways to develop vocabulary, language, imagination and a lifelong love of reading. Teachers learn practical techniques to engage children before, during and after storytelling, create meaningful stories that reflect their learners’ own experiences, and co-create classroom storybooks using simple, low-cost resources.

Built around the internationally recognised Concentrated Language Encounter (CLE) approach, the workshop provides educators with practical strategies they can implement immediately—helping children develop the language, confidence and comprehension skills they need to become successful readers and lifelong learners.

At the Impilo Collection Foundation, we believe that by empowering teachers, we can transform classrooms and inspire a new generation of confident, curious readers.
