The campaign was inspired by a simple but often overlooked reality: for thousands of women living in shelters, places of safety and vulnerable communities, access to properly fitting underwear is not a luxury—it is a matter of dignity, confidence and wellbeing.
Through the incredible generosity of individuals, organisations and corporate partners, more than *8,849 bras* were collected and distributed to women’s shelters (39)and community organisations across South Africa. Every donation represented far more than an item of clothing. It represented hope, compassion and the reminder that every woman deserves to feel seen, valued and supported.
The success of the campaign revealed something even more important. The need is far greater than we imagined.
While thousands of bras were donated, our conversations with shelters and community organisations highlighted an ongoing shortage of essential underwear, personal hygiene products and other everyday necessities. For many women and girls facing hardship, these basic items remain out of reach.
These conversations have shaped the next chapter of our work.
Today, *8,849 Bras for Humanity* has evolved into more than a campaign. It is a growing movement that champions dignity, empowers women and girls, and inspires individuals, businesses and communities to create meaningful, lasting change through practical acts of kindness.
As we look to the future, the Impilo Collection Foundation is proud to introduce the *365 Dignity Campaign*—an initiative built on the belief that dignity is needed every day of the year, not just during a single campaign.
The 365 Dignity Campaign will encourage individuals, schools, businesses and corporate partners to make regular contributions of bras, underwear, personal hygiene products and other essential items, creating a sustainable supply of dignity packs for shelters, community organisations and women in need across South Africa. By transforming once-off donations into year-round support, we aim to ensure that dignity is never dependent on circumstance or season.
Our vision is to build a national movement that brings together communities, organisations and corporate partners to restore dignity, inspire hope and empower women—one act of kindness at a time.
Every donation sends a simple but powerful message:
**You matter.
You are valued.
You are not forgotten.**
Together, we are restoring dignity—one woman, one community and one act of kindness at a time.
*Because dignity shouldn’t be seasonal; it should be available 365 days a year.*
