8 849 Bras for Humanity Exhibition at Constitution Hill
In December 2025, during the 16 Days of Activism, the Empower Campaign successfully launched “EmpowerHer: 8,849 Bras for Humanity”, collecting 8,849 bras, which went on exhibition at Constitutional Hill in Johannesburg. One bra for every metre of Mount Everest that Angela Yeung climbed in 2025 — to symbolically represent dignity, resilience, and the lived realities of South African women affected by gender-based violence (GBV).
Each bra has been professionally cleaned, individually packaged, and labelled for distribution. Now, the next critical phase begins, national distribution to shelters, safe houses, and organisations supporting women and girls in all nine provinces.
From Exhibition to Impact
We are inviting you to join us in this logistics and impact phase, ensuring that every bra reaches the hands of women and girls who need it most.
Our Objective:
• Distribute 8,849 bras nationwide, approximately 1,000 per province, to shelters and safe houses supporting women and girls in need.
• Ensure each recipient receives a dignity package including a labelled bra, along with information on health, safety, and empowerment resources.
• Create measurable impact through direct distribution, reporting, and documentation of beneficiaries reached.
